Eastern Line premieres

We present two more Olympic premieres: Nini Julia Bang’s A Thousand Tongues and Studium Teatralne’s Dead Line.

Nini Julia Bang is a freelance performer, singer and musician living in Copenhagen, Denmark. She has been an actress of Teatr ZAR since 2006. Bang performs in all parts of Teatr ZAR’s triptych and has been instrumental in creating its last two parts, Caesarean Section: Essays on Suicide and Anhelli: The Calling. Her piece A Thousand Tongues is a declaration of love for the human voice and fragility of life. The artist combines traditional songs from the current conflict areas of the Middle East with music originating from different parts of Europe. The songs are intertwined with images inspired by long forgotten stories from Mesopotamia, which are shrouded in mystery and speak of the divine feminine and primordial love. A Thousand Tongues will premiere on 7 and 8 November.

Studium Teatralne was set up by Piotr Borowski. Since its inception, the group have exercised their right of assembly operating as an independent theatre company. They have set themselves the goal of deepening and spreading a sense of artistic truth. ‘Strong impression’ is the phrase that probably best describes the feeling one has after watching Studium Teatralne’s take on Michel Houellebecq’s The Possibility of an Island. Consumption, the battle of the sexes, chasing monetary gain, unrequited love, inner emptiness, cruel old age and the vision of eternal life in the world of eternally young people of the future which offers no place for true relationships. The piece is scheduled to premiere during the Theatre Olympics on 9 November, followed by a second performance on 10 November.

Tickets, which are almost sold out now, can be bought at Barbara and through the TicketPro website.
