The National Theatre Fondazione Teatro della Toscana was formed in January 2015 through the merger of the Centro la Sperimentazione e la Ricerca Teatrale Pontedera and the Teatro della Pergola of Florence. Centro per la Sperimentazione e la Ricerca Teatrale (CSRT) was established in 1974 in Pontedera as a prototype for a new cultural and artistic institution. It was created to become a place for theatre creation and education, to develop the artistic productivity of groups and to create a common working place for scholars, artists and theatre people. CSRT, with the artistic direction of Roberto Bacci, and the direction of Luca Dini, is today active in the field of theatre productions, educational projects, theatre festivals on the regional, national and international level. CSRT has received important awards for its production activities, hospitality, festivals, organization and publishing. CSRT produces young emerging artists, creations of Italian and international artists, and has built a stable team of actors, playwrights and technicians, who work in continuity for new creations directed by Roberto Bacci.
