Jolanta Rzeźnicka-Krupa is a doctor in the arts and assistant professor in the Institute of Pedagogy, Department of Social Sciences of the University of Gdańsk. She has published the books: Komunikacja, edukacja, społeczeństwo. O dyskursie dzieci z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną and Niepełnosprawność i świat społeczny. Szkice metodologiczne, as well as a numer of articles on such issues as educational and sociocultural aspects of the phenomenon of disability, published in such magazines as Studia Edukacyjne, Człowiek – Niepełnosprawność – Społeczeństwo, and Niepełnosprawność. Dyskursy Pedagogiki Specjalnej. In her research she is interested in the issues of subject and identity in the modern world, the processes of social construction of disability, and the cultural context of their creation, the category of the body and the corporal in modern humanities, non-academic and post-academic forms of construing knowledge, as well as the so-called non-professional art (outsiders’ art, art brut).
She is a member of the IMPlus group, uniting theatre groups from the cities of Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot, whose casts are composed of adults with intellectual disabilities. She is a member of the Polish Educational Research Association, as well as European Sociological Association and European Society for Disability Research. Since 2015 she has collaborated with the research department of Applied Theatre CADLab at the Newman University, Birmingham.
